summer

We are in the middle of one of the hottest weather stretches that I can remember for our northern corner of the world. The temperatures has been in the high 20's and low 30's since school ended. It is hot. Usually when we get hot weather we have big thunder heads form during the day and we get hammered at night. Not this time. We got rain yesterday for the first time in this stretch. It was nice to go to church in a rain shower. It cooled things off a little... you could almost feel the Earth sigh with relief. I know I did.

We have spent more time at home this summer than we usually do. Usually we are on our way to the lake as soon as we can get there. Last year the kids complained that they didn't get to spend any time at home with their friends, so this year we have waited a while to leave here. H and C had camp. M was b-bsitting so one of the YW leaders could go to camp. While all of the kids were gone, I painted C's room and cleaned carpets and some blinds. They came home and there were piles of laundry and camp remnants everywhere. We could hardly tell that we worked hard while they were away! C raced to the river and got 3rd in his age category. He was so happy that we were here for him to race. H has spent time with her friends and looks forward to efy.  We have enjoyed having a couple of our little friends visit, too! I'm glad we could be at home to make summer memories here.

Anyway, when we get it together we will go and enjoy our time at the lake, a trip to the Big Apple, family reunions, traveling to our favorite National Park, a quick bike trip to BC and then home in time for H to go with the football team to Ontario for a week. School will be here before I know it.
