two thumbs down and a BIG thumbs up

So the first thumbs down is that my computer screen at work today was dead. It was very inconvenient to work on the Smartboard with the mouse as I could not see the writing from my desk! So back and forth I went all day to read and of course today I wanted to show pictures from the trip, so this was an inconvenience! What did we do before we used a computer? Hmmm. (I do know that this is really not something to complain about considering all that is going on in the world!)

The second thumbs down is that the sewer decided to back into the basement after school. Nice!

The city has known that our line had a sag in it since 2005 when we called them for a little problem we had back then. They came and took a video of the line and they knew exactly where the problem was. Long story short... yesterday they came to fix the pothole they made when they dug the area up in the fall for some reason (we didn't ask them to do any work?!)

that's when things started backing up. The workers said that it was just a 'coincidence.' I think not!

The BIG thumbs up is that my parents are home!!!!

Yay! They called just as the basement crisis was underway. As always, they came to our rescue by taking the kids out while we dealt with... everything. We ended up meeting them for dinner. It was good to visit with them and hear more about their winter and to let the kids talk and laugh with them. We really do miss them when they are away. Not just because they rescue us. So happy that they are home and thankful for the amazing bag of goodies they brought home for us!
