Work has been busy...
After my teaching contract ended I had 2 days off and then I subbed 3 days in the same room... and then I was asked to cover for another sub, who was covering for a teacher who had some surgery. Originally I was told I would be in that room for sure for 1 week but ended up being in there for 11 days total! The class was the behaviour room. A class with 7 boys and a lockable room. I learned many things from those boys and especially from the amazing Teaching Assistant! The best advice ?! Don't react! At first I thought that it was silly advice but after being sworn at and "I hate you'd" a few times I realized there was power in that advice. Reacting gave the child control and encouraged them to act out even more... no reaction and it wasn't worth their time. There were also many sweet moments with these boys...I just tried to remember that each of these boys is just that... a little boy. Many great memories from this experience.
I AM AN INDIAN!!!
(Funny, I will get paid more for this 11 days than I was when I had an actual contract!)
We have been busy on the home front as well.
Busy getting ready for grad...
Busy trying to get the basement updated for when the carpet and wall repair were done...
Busy trying to organize and get rid of stuff...
Busy getting the flower beds ready for planting the plants I haven't purchased yet...
Busy with birthday parties!...
Busy enjoying the beautiful spring weather- sunshine during the day and then just as it's time to make dinner, rain and thunder storms!
Busy with life...
