My Mom.
She is so amazing.
She continues to be all of the things that I described in the link above but also she has developed such a strong bond with M that M wants to call her to share special stories, ask her questions and just hang out. She continues to attend activities-again this year she saw all 3 festival performances...I saw 2.
She had barely been home from her winter away and we called on her and my dad to come and rescue us. They did.
She has a great group of friends and they get together regularly for breakfast. It is fun to see her with them. Also, she is working hard to do her family history and I am enjoying working together with her to add information as we find it. She is doing more scrapbooking than I am and makes very beautiful pages. I hope we can do some scrapping together this summer.
I am so thankful to have a mother to count on, talk with and to rely on for support. I can't even express how grateful I am for a Mother who supports me and my family... not just on Mother's day but every day.
(This is us together at my Grandma Linford's memorial in 2010.)

My favorite classic photo of my mom.
I have asked her about this photo before. I think she told me that it was taken just after she was engaged to my Dad. She was working... that's all I can remember. I will ask again!
I do remember that she told me she had some really pointy toe high heels in bright colours!
I love that!
I love her glasses.
And her hair.
This is my Grandma.
Henrietta Wilson McKill Linford.
This is one of our last visits with her at her 100th birthday party in 2009.
Although she suffered with Alzheimer's for many years, she is a mother that I admire and love. She and I hung out together a lot while I was going to university. We took a fun-filled road trip to see the pandas in Calgary the year they were on loan to the zoo (1988?) We lived together, ate together, laughed together and shopped together-- a lot!
She worked until really late in life and enjoyed her independence and was proud of the things she accomplished. After she retired she travelled to many exciting places on her own!
She was stubborn and had her opinions- especially later on...
She had a protective instinct even as her mind was failing. One time when we were visiting her at the care center M was standing on the couch as we were showing off H for the first time. Grandma instinctively put her arm out to keep M from getting too close to the edge. It struck me then, just as much as it does now, how much love and instinct are a part of who a Mother is. No matter what.
I especially loved that she loved ice cream!
Even when she needed help to eat it... we knew that she was enjoying the ice cream we gave her. Her eyes would light up and she would get this mischevious look on her face like she knew she was doing something she really shouldn't do, but she was going to do it anyway!
I support this philosophy.
Ice cream goes with any thing, any time!
