My New Adventure!

So a while back I, let's say, 'missed out' on an opportunity to do a maternity leave at my favorite school. I was very sad. very. I continued to sub and be loyal to that school and its staff. They are my friends. I have been there for 12 years as a Mom and a substitute teacher. loyal. still loyal.

In these times of cutbacks and economic challenges, I (well, Dev and I) have been thinking more and more that I should try to get into a contract job within the school district if something was to come up. Well, I got a call about a part-time, job share maternity leave position at ... another school! But, because the conditions were so right (part-time, short term, with the possibility of longer term into next year, and with a job share partner that I know from when she taught at my favorite school) we decided that I should apply. So a few weeks ago I did just that.

This week I had an interview. Tough, but interesting, thought- provoking questions by the three panel members. Then it was time to wait...

Well, today I went into my new class at my new school (where I know only a few people) to check things out and meet the new charges. I did see a few of my young school friends that have moved to the new school from my favorite school. AND I surprised a few church friends that did not know I was coming to their favorite school. It was so fun to see their friendly faces!

19 new friends, lots to learn and homework already! The adventure officially begins on Monday!

Watch for updates!

PS Thanks to my good Mother who helped me out already making sure ortho appts were kept and the youngest two got to school on time this morning. Thank you, Mom!

PPS Language warning but FUNNY story!

So I was reading in the hall with a lower reader. I asked which book he wanted to read from his book box and held up a couple to choose from. He looked at one of the books and said "That book stinks!" So he read the other book. I said "Okay, so let's read this one now and then we can return it to the Library". Again he said, "That book stinks!" So I smelled it. It did smell....like a brand new book. You know that smell. Kinda smells like barf. So I said to him, "This is a new book. New books do kind of smell like barf." He replied matter of fact... WARNING!!!..."That book smells like s.h._._."

Alrighty-then.

"Maybe we shouldn't use that word at school" I said.

Welcome to my new world.
