Tuesday-day in T.O.

So, Tuesday I ventured out to see the Harry Potter exhibit at the Toronto Science Museum. It looked close enough on the map but after talking to the concierge, and his description of the bus ride and the transfer to the subway and the walk to the museum... because I was alone... I decided to take a cab there. Big financial error. I was told it would be $15, so I thought I would speed up the adventure and so I went for it. However, the dash gadget was at $15 before we crossed the big I-never-would-have-been-able-to-walk-there valley. I was at the mercy of the driver. Who knows if he took the most efficient route or not. I'm sure I looked like a tourist. $30 later I arrived at the museum.

Another $25 and I was in to see Harry Potter! It was a really cool museum type exhibit showing all of the costumes, props (wands, candy, magical things...) and 'stuff' from the movies. Again, no pictures allowed!

I did check out the rest of the science museum... mostly hands on experiments and info about different things, dinosaurs, the body, sound, energy... you know... stuff teachers would like all of their students to know.

There was this one thing with bubbles (plastic bubbles). I took a picture of myself and then after a couple of minutes my image showed up on this giant wall of bubbles. Can you see me in the bubbles?

For the ride home I decided to ask if there was a bus or subway? Sure, I was told (by each of the 3 people I checked and triple checked with) go to that bus stop (15 feet), pay $3 in exact change, take the next bus (only one bus comes past here), and get off when it stops at the subway station. Take the subway to the Yunge Street Station. $3. Hmmm.

I met a very nice older man (who asked me if I was a teacher! I said yes why do you ask? He said, why else would someone come to the museum alone! nice!) at the bus stop. He made sure I new where I was going (he repeated it at least 4 times- three stops after I get off, he said.) and off I went. Yep. $3.

Did I mention the Yunge Street subway station was about 50 steps from our hotel?!
(Life lesson: Next time I will ask for more opinions on the best way to get somewhere!)
