We went cross country skiing yesterday afternoon.
(I should mention that I haven't skied in over 20 years.)
At the 1km turn around Cath asked me if I wanted to turn around.
I said, "Let's keep going!"
We went to the 2km turn around where we took a few pictures.
As we neared the end of the 2km there was a gentle hill.
We decided to snow plow down.
I followed Catherine and thought I would take some pictures
to document the successful completion of our ski.
It was such a beautiful day!
Fresh snow on the ground,
gentle snow still falling
and amazingly beautiful scenery.
I was feeling really comfortable as I skied
and thought I would snap another shot.
Suddenly, I realized that my right ski was moving
out...
out...
out...
I took this shot as I went crashing down!
The hardest part of the entire skiing event
was trying to get up!
Man, did we laugh!
I really enjoyed this skiing adventure.
Thank you Catherine!
I also need to thank my special little friends, F, B and E and their amazing Mom, Maurita,
for a very special morning!
As I drove into their new crescent, I thought,
"That's a lot of Mormon vehicles!"
The 'little' birthday visit became a very BIG event.
I was truly surprised!
I think there was about 10 of my closest friends and all of their (17?) little people.
I was touched that each one of those special little friends
took the time to wish me a happy birthday.
Some with a hug and others with a high 5.
(What good Moms they have!)
"Happy Birthday Sistah Whipple"
Definitely a highlight of my day!
Such amazing treats to celebrate with!
Who else can say that they had homemade cinnamon buns for their birthday?!
They were soooo yummy!
(I need to get the recipe!)
Special thanks for the nice gifts.
I am truly blessed to have such considerate and thoughtful friends.
To continue with the day...
Dinner out with my good children
(no, I didn't leave the bad ones at home!)
and husband.
They had nice cards for me
and a special card from my far away parents
with a special something inside.
Thank you to them for remembering me!
And then,
as if I needed anything else,
our good friends, Coach and Team Mom,
came over with
homemade apple pie
for dessert!
What a great day!
I should also mention that my brother
and sister,
my parents,
and good friend, She,
called to wish me well.
And I got a card in the mail from my kind cousin Keith.
Thank you to everyone for a memorable birthday!
A great way to start my, ahem,
33 year!
Did you hear that 30 is the new 20?
