As the classroom turns... these are the days of this week.

What a busy week! I was teaching all week in kindergarten... the teacher went off to get married! Congratulations!

The class was great. The week started off with one of the TA's leaving as she and her husband got a call over the AWG break that they could come to pick up a baby they had been waiting to adopt! So happy for them! A new aide was hired Monday afternoon to start Tuesday. Tuesday I was told that there would be a new student on Thursday pm (she actually came Wednesday am!). The pm aide left Tuesday night to go down south for basketball provincials and would be gone for the rest of the week. A sub TA was in for her and thankfully she was a well experienced TA and could handle the behaviors and quickly changing activities of the special student she was working with. Wednesday was St. Paddy's Day and of course we had to look for that sneaky little leprechaun. I was disappointed he didn't leave any chocolate! What's that about? Isn't chocolate mandatory for these kinds of holidays?! The local Irish dance group came to perform. (The costumes and hair were amazing! The kids loved the loud shoes and the quiet shoes. A couple of the kick lines almost took the noses off my little people in the front row!) AND report cards had to go home on Friday and PTI's had to be scheduled (by me!) I was grateful that I had done the mat leave in ECS before and had enough experience to do all the extra stuff that went along with report cards (no, I did not have to write the report cards. They were done by the teacher before she left.) I'm sure there was something else thrown in there too but for now I'm sure that must be more than enough!

I am so grateful to the morning TA, Barb, who helped me SO much to keep things running smoothly, showing the new TA the routine by example, answering questions, and getting centers and children organized and ready for each activity. She was so amazing. She received news part way through the week that her Mom was put in the hospital in BC and so she was dealing with the emotion of that as well. She is so positive with the children. She is an amazing lady. Love her. (Barb and I actually have known each other for a long time. She used to work at Campbell Drugs with me way back in the day. She worked in the stock room and I loved putting out stock. Another way we are connected is that her sister-in-law, Dianne and my sister, Cara, were good friends in high school. weird.)

Our mantra all week was "go with the flow". I'm so glad everyone in the room was able to do that this week.

We took a picture of the kids wearing sticky labels with a letter on each one spelling out w.e.l.c.o.m.e.b.a.c.k.M.r.s..... They looked so cute in the photo. I think it will make for a nice memory. We also made a thank you 'card' for the ski hill. We made it look like a crazy carpet. The kids all signed it and we laminated it. It really looked like a crazy carpet! fun.

Friday afternoon there were only 9/16 kids. Almost a 2:1 ratio. There were 3 regular staff in the room plus a sub that was in for someone else was sent to help out and then... another sub was supposed to come for a bit at the end of the day. I sent the first sub out to find somewhere else to help and then I told the other sub not to come in. Seriously, there were so many adults it was ridiculous. I should have gone home! Not really, but it did seem a LOT crazy! We watched books on the Smartboard for 45 minutes at the end of the day because we had played ourselves out using the scooters in the gym and playing 'whose got the locket' and having reading buddies and doing the hockey pokey, and 'do as I'm doing'... whew! I'm exhausted again just thinking about it!
