Ski Day!

We got up super early to drive the 2 hours to Worsley to go skiing with some of our church youth.
We decided we would go as a family and we all skied! It had been a while for both Dev and me... since college for me. Yikes, that's a long time ago.

H invited her friend so I hardly saw her at all but she had so much fun! She did great and skied all of the runs. Her friend is going to send us the pictures of her crashes! Apparently she had a few good ones!

M and C skied with Mom and Dad and with each other. Good to spend time with each of them. The rides up the lift were full of good conversation and time to share and that was awesome. Dev and I got to ride together too and it was nice to just be together. We were able to enjoy each others' company and the beautiful day. The hill was gorgeous and we had fun watching the squirrels chase each other across the runs and through the woods.
C and Dad did all of the black diamond runs and went all over the hill. M did well and she had a fun time (even though she thought she wouldn't!) She managed to wipe out a few times and had muddy knees and mitts after one memorable crash!

It was super fun to see C and his Dad ski together. Dev said at one point C looked at him and said. 'Dad, I didn't know you were such a good skier. I'm surprised. You did a good job today!'

I was so surprised at how easy it was to 'get back in the ski boots.' We skied from 10 am until just after 3 pm. No wipeouts for me until the very last ride up the lift. As we were dismounting, I got wiped out by a young (rookie skier) friend who was riding with us. Her tips crossed and she took me out! Obviously an accident. I landed hard on my hip then my elbow and then my face. It took me a while to move. I could not feel my leg and the lady in the lift booth shut the lift down because I was right in the way of everyone else. I knew I was in the way but could not get myself up or get my skis off to allow me to stand up. M and the friend helped me get the skis popped and I could then crawl out of the way. Seriously, I thought I had popped my hip out or something as I was laying there. But no, I was able to walk to a nearby bench and sit down. I did not look forward to skiing down. It was the only way to get to our car though so I managed to get the skis on and I S L O W L Y skied down the hill. That was it for me for the day! Sadly, after all of that pain, I don't even have a bruise, only a scrape on my elbow. But man oh man, my body aches. My jaw even hurts today! I had a hard time getting up and down with the kids in Nursery today.

But what a fun day it was! I am so glad we could spend the day together!
