snow days

This week the weather has been absolutely amazing. We have enjoyed above zero weather every day. The sun has been shining and, dare I say it, no wind.

Tuesday was ski day at school and C and I went out to the hill. I was going to go as a volunteer but when I got to the school I was asked if I would work. So, I went to the hill, played and got paid to be there! I have such a great job! ...love the kids I get to teach...

C had a blast! His skate skiing skills (from x- country) really helped him on the flat parts of the hill and I know he loved the day. He said it was weird that he skied with kids that he doesn't normally hang with or even talk to at school. He said it didn't seem to matter at the hill. "We just skied."

ahh, the power of sport.

Thursday afternoon was our school's Olympic celebration and Arctic Winter Games preview event. It was about 8 Celsius outside and I don't think the ECS kids I was teaching had their coats on for more that 10 minutes once we were outside! It was so great to be able to enjoy such a beautiful day. C and his school buddy were the ECS helpers for the afternoon. fun to see him in the helper role.

I have been noticing that he seems to like to be around little people more than before. When we have kids in our home, he likes to play ball with them or try to make them laugh. He still isn't a big fan when they cry and he usually goes missing then, but it's nice to see his increase in caring.

I hope these good, sunny weather days (+ no wind) last! Looking forward to spring break week!
