Woke up to snow! arggh! I have had enough! Anyway, went to my art class and loved Andrea Daly's ideas for using children's books to inspire art. I took a picture of one project to remember it. The idea is to read a book about a sporting event and then draw the audience that would be watching. Everyone would fold their paper into 2 'hot dogs' so that the audiences would all be in the same size stands. Then you draw all different types of people some happy, some sad ... put them all together and you have a really neat sport display.
I also went to the Smartboard session and even though it was advertised as a gentle beginner session, it was hard! I wanted to know how to turn it on and they were talking about layers and files and other stuff. I will ask Miss B for a private lesson at school next week.
I also went to a 'Using Literature in Social Studies' session. It was neat because they gave each person a lot of lesson plans and resources on a CD. I sat with a co worker from when I taught full time and that it was good to catch up with her. She showed me a picture of her son (whom I taught my first year of teaching) with his wife and 3 little girls. She said 'You know, he turned into a very nice young man. I'm sorry he gave you such a hard time.' He did give me a hard time that year. Looking back, I would have done some things differently. Experience makes a person smarter!
I also saw my job share partner from my teaching-grade-5-days, she said that a certain perspective employer of mine came and asked her about me. I wonder what that means?
The day ended with sunshine and warmish temps. C and H went skiing today with some friends. Dev took them out to the hill. When M was finished babysitting, she and I went out to pick them up. I think they had a perfect last day for skiing. The hill closes tomorrow!
H had her Spring Fling orchestra concert last week. At one point all the jr high orchestras were on the stage playing together. H and her orch were standing up. H was fun to watch as she was sort of leading the 'standers'. She was keeping time with her head and it looked like she was dancing. She is so great! I think she looks like she enjoys what she is doing!
