fantastic friday!

Wow! Canada has more gold medals than any other country so far! And more to come!!! Today medals in speed skating, women's curling, and more in team speed skating. So cool to watch all of the sports and the enthusiasm and energy for sport. It is inspiring. I have heard many comments that the athletes winning in 2010 were little kids 9 or 10 years old in 1988 when the Olympics were in Calgary. They were inspired to want to be in the Olympics and they are! We were screaming at the tv when the men's hockey team barely made it a win against Slovakia in the semi final. Canada vs. USA on Sunday for the gold. (The game starts just as church starts. Oh what to do, what to do?) The women's curling team couldn't made the final shot to win the gold but what a great silver! Speed skaters were disqualified (Apollo Ohno and others) and others crashed or went backwards over the finish line to win gold (Charles Hamelin). Amazing real life action. We know people who only got tv hooked up so they could watch the Olympics. When the games are over so goes the tv! Funny.

M went sledding this afternoon with some of her friends. They are all so beautiful. And nice. The weather has been so nice here lately. I'm glad the kids are taking advantage of these final(?) days of winter. C went cross country skiing in the park today and his final ski class is tomorrow. H babysat tonight and will again tomorrow for her grade 6 teacher's super cute daughter. I am grateful for happy healthy kids that go about doing good.

Tonight M and I went to help a special friend set up her booth at a trade show. Happy to be asked to help.

Finally heard from all of the kids grade 4 teacher who is on an exchange to Australia for a year. She has been 'livin like she was dying' to quote her, and has been having an amazing time... so glad. She took the little gnome that we gave her and has been taking pictures with it as she travels. happy for her. grateful for her friendship.

Went on a day-date with Dev today. We went through the show suites for the new retirement complex being made from the tower hotel 2 blocks from our house. It is a neat concept, but too expensive I think. Fun to check it out and share some ideas we had. Looked at furniture, got a few groceries and did some Home teaching. A nice day overall.

Lots to be thankful for today!

PS. I wanted to mention the bronze medal win of Joannie Rochette last night in figure skating. Her win was inspiring as her mother died of a heart attack as she arrived in Vancouver a few days ago. Joannie was able to skate 2 beautiful programs and she won the bronze. I am inspired by her good spirit, her composure and strength. My prayers go out to her and her family.
