"Let. me. put this. into. perspective"

Thank you to CTV broadcaster Brian Williams for the title of this post. As a Canadian viewer you either love Brian Williams or you make fun of him. He is known to say this repeatedly as he covers Olympic games and other events. He then goes on to analyze something in great depth. Anyway, there was lots for him to analyze at these amazing Olympics. Canada was inspired and patriotic and let the world see it. We were able to celebrate our uniqueness as a country, our specialness as a people and our awesome athletes! These were amazing days for Canada and for the world. I think there are many stories from these games that will be retold many times in the future. Children have been inspired to follow their dreams. 17 days of reality television at its best!

I love how the closing ceremonies poked fun at all of the stereotypical Canadiana that is out there. Beavers, moose, mounties, lumberjacks, HOCKEY (did I mention we won men's and women's gold medals in hockey? and in men's curling, and in men's team pursuit and in men's snowboard? I didn't want to forget!). The closing ceremony was super fun with Michael Buble, Michael J. Fox (we were waiting for him to show up somewhere!) and William Shatner doing the 'I am Canadian' rant. I liked the part of Catherine O'Hara's performance where she talked about writing your name in the snow...'we will know who did it!' Great music by Neil Young, Avril Lavigne, and some french people who's name I do not know. I could have done without Nickelback and Hedley and what was up with that cleavage Alanis? Yikes! Overall I LOVED everything about the Olympics. Check out the medal totals. Canada got more gold medals than any other country ever at a winter Olympics.

I will come back soon with my Top 10 favorite moments of the games.
